Though some areas of the country experience more natural disasters than others, there are a variety of seasonal weather awareness campaigns in most of the United States. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS) created a Weather and Water Preparedness Events Calendar that lists all organized disaster preparedness programs.
The NWS provides this information by state to prepare the public for the specific extreme weather events they could face. Local NWS offices conduct local awareness/preparedness campaigns and other outreach activities timed to their communities’ threats.

After you have your family’s preparedness plan in place, the next step is to conduct a home and/or business inventory of your contents. If you’re too busy or don’t want to tackle this task, we will be happy to create it for you. Having a list and photographs of what you owned prior to the disaster will help make the claim process less time-consuming and less stressful. It will also enable you to submit your claim more quickly and can help you receive a more equitable settlement.
What if you have a loss before you get the inventory completed? Document everything! Take pictures. Your insurance provider doesn’t know what you had until you show them.
Be ready for the severe weather. Use the resource of the local NWS office to know what activities are planned for your area.
